News broke yesterday about the arrest of Ghanaian superstar musician Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong known professionally as Black Sherif. Since then the details had been sketchy but on Thursday more information was released regarding the incident.

What do we know so far?

According to deep-throat information available and shared by Emmanuel Kwame Sarpong known as Olele Salvador, the incident was due to a deal between the singer’s agency and a cruise ship company.

“A cruise ship music event had expressed interest in booking Black Sherif. The cruise company filed a complaint with the Ghana Police Service, alleging a breach of agreement with the singer’s agency.”

Per the information, the cruise ship company made an initial deposit of $20,000 and expected promotional videos from the singer. It must be noted that there was no agreement on promotional videos contained in the contract so the artist did not do any videos for that purpose.

“An initial deposit of $20,000 was made, but the contract did not include a requirement for promotional videos for a press launch.”

However, after failing to get any promotional videos from the singer, the cruise ship company threatened to cancel the deal. That forced the agency to refund the initial deposit but the cruise ship company demanded $50,000 instead.

“The cruise organizer demanded the videos, threatening contract cancellation if not provided, leading to a refund of the initial deposit by the singer’s agents.

“The complainant insisted on being reimbursed $50,000 instead of the initial $20,000, leading to further disputes and threats.”

What happened?

On getting to the airport having completed a tour of Europe, the Ghanaian police arrested the musician. Black Sherif was returning to assist in investigations regarding the case. He is obviously not the main party to the feud but because he is the artist in the middle he has been caught in the storm.

“Black Sherif was stopped at the airport upon his return from a successful European tour to assist in the investigation.

“The issue appears to be a disagreement between the cruise organizers and the talent agency, rather than the artist’s commitment to the event.

“Lawyers for Black Sherif are working to find an amicable resolution to the situation.”
