Mahama is your brother, not an enemy – Yaa Naa tells Bawumia

The overlord of the Dagbon kingdom, Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II has called on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to see former President John Mahama as an elder brother. Advising the Vice President after Dr Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him, the Yaa-Naa said whoever emerges winner in 2024 is a victory for Northern Ghana.

According to him, both Bawumia and Mahama together with all persons from the north of the country should see the decision of both the ruling and largest opposition parties to select people from the north to lead the country in this era.

“We as Northerners have to be grateful to all Ghanaians for trusting that only a Northerner can lead Ghana after 2024. It is a big opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities, competence, honesty and dedication to moving Ghana forward.”

He said, just like Dr Bawumia, ex-president Mahama is also his son and thus the two should see themselves as brothers and not enemies but just competitors.

“My son, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama who is also a son, is your fellow competitor in this election, he is not your enemy or rival.

“He is your elder brother and a former President of Ghana who is also being presented by the largest opposition party in our country to be re-elected as president.”

According to him, a win for either of them is a win for Northern Ghana and their nominations alone already signify victory for the people from the North.

“As northerners, we have already won the election with whoever we elect because whoever wins the trophy is coming home.”

John Mahama and Dr Bawumia have been engaged in heated exchanges as they both seek to present their ideas before Ghanaians. The former President promised that an NDC government would negotiate with the private sector to implement a 24-hour economy when given the mandate.
