A man posing as a lawyer in Kenya, Brian Mwenda Njagi has been exposed as fake and not an advocate of the High Court nor a member of the Law Society of Kenya.

A statement by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) disowned the man who is said to have won all the cases he handled. He was arrested by the police in Kenya following the exposure.

According to reports, Brian Mwenda has won all 26 cases he represented in court. On each of those occasions, it was against the people whom the LSK identifies as its members and allowed to practice law in the East African country.

“It has come to our notice that Mr. Brian Mwenda has been operating within our legal community under a false guise, falsely presenting himself as an advocate.

“The Branch wishes to notify all members of the society and of the public that Brian Mwenda Njagi is not an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, from the Society’s records, neither is he a member of the Branch,” LSK announced.

Also, the LSK’s Nairobi branch which made the statement added that anyone with information about Njagi or any other person parading themselves as lawyers to report them to the appropriate authorities.

“Members are encouraged to share any information of any person masquerading as an Advocate for the necessary action,” LSK stated as per The Standard.

Commenting on the issue on X, former governor of Nairobi City Mbuvi Gideon Kioko, commonly known as Mike Sonko said Brian remains innocent until proven guilty. He asked the leadership of the LSK to be measured in their actions as what Brian did was just a mistake. According to Mike Sonko who was impeached as governor in 2020, Brian has not committed murder and is also not a terrorist to be treated with ironclad hands.

“I still maintain that my future lawyer Brian Mwenda is innocent until proven guilty,” Mike said on X.

Mike added that he will ensure Brian reports to the police next week and give his statement as expected. He also revealed that plans are underway to enrol Brian in a university in the United Kingdom or India so he can study and become an international lawyer.

Adding his voice to the ongoing saga, Brian assured that he is safe in the hands of Mike Sonko adding that he “I will prove my innocence and credibility. Stay tuned.”
