I Told Them: what is Burna Boy bringing this time around?

Estimated read time 3 min read

Nigerian superstar singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy is set to release his seventh studio album, with August, designated as the big month for the release. The African Giant as he is affectionately called has always been a beast in his craft, delivering hit songs on a regular basis.

Love, Damini, his most recent album which he released in 2022 has raised the singer’s international pedigree and he just recently completed a tour based on the album. It was a success, but as has always been the case, maintaining the heights is one hell of a task than setting it in the first place. So as “I Told Them” is set to hit the public, what do we know and expect from the Grammy winner?

As stated earlier, “I Told Them” is Burna Boy’s seventh studio album and a follow-up to the hugely successful “Love, Damini” album which had top songs including a collaborative piece with Ed Sheran, “For My Hand”. The album’s success included gold certifications in Denmark, Canada, and The Netherlands and silver in the United Kingdom. Those heights alone give us enough to expect from the “Common Person” singer.

When will I Told Them be released?

Burna Boy announced the release date of the album as August 25, 2023. The “Last, Last” singer announced the album by saying “It’s a new era”. He has released the lead single for the album, titled “Big 7”. Explaining the song, Burna said, “Big 7’ is a melodic tribute to embracing new heights in my musical journey. The title represents a symbolic aspiration to reach greater horizons, with the number seven embodying an attainable and harmonious growth.”

Taking clues from the title of the lead single and the reasons behind the title, it is only befitting to expect something huge from “I Told Them”. No track list has been announced nor hints given about any featured artists. However, with the recent works with big-name artists, it is expected that Burna Boy will assemble a high-profile list of artists for his latest album.

No further plans have been revealed about the album concerning tours or anything of that nature. It is not expected that the afro-pop starman will immediately embark on tours after releasing the album having just concluded the “Love, Damini” tour. But touring won’t be written off in 2023 or early 2024 to take “I Told Them” to the audience in large venues just as he did with “Love, Damini”.

For now, that is all we have for you about “I Told Them” but we will keep you updated as soon as we get any new information regarding the album. Pre-save of the album is available on digital stores.
