Ghana’s female U-20 team the Black Princesses this afternoon tore apart their Swazi counterparts with a flurry of goals in their World Cup qualifying third-round encounter. Yusif Basigi’s girls proved too strong for their Southern African counterparts despite falling behind early in the game.

The Black Princesses started off badly and conceded inside the first five minutes as Eswatini set the tone in what would be a shocker for the Ghanaians. However, Mercy Attobra was not ready to take any of that as she levelled for the visitors just five minutes after they fell behind.

That goal opened more scoring opportunities for the Ghanaians but they failed to turn them in. Beline Nyarkoh missed the opportunity to shoot her side into the lead in the 24th minute when she fired wide. She made amends and found the back of the net four minutes later as she shot the Princesses into the lead.

The Ghanaians went into the break preserving their slim lead. Coach Yusif Basigi made an alteration during the break, bringing in Success Ameyaa for Abigail Sakyiwaa. Four minutes into the second half, Ghana increased their tally with Wasima Mohammed scoring to make it 1-3.

Wasiima turned provider as she crossed for Sarah Nyarkoh to power 10 minutes later ultimately putting the game beyond the hosts’ reach. But it didn’t end there, after substitute Success Ameyaa missed the chance to score in the 67th minute, pressure from the Black Princesses led to an own goal as the Swazis turned into their own net to make it 1-5 for Ghana.
