Black Challenge beat Algeria to reach Amputee AFCON finals

Ghana’s national Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge did the double over Algeria after beating them again for the second time in a week. The Black Challenge made light work of the North African side and advanced to the 2024 Amputee Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Having already sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup by reaching the semi-finals, Coach Stephen Obeng and his boys were now gunning for continental glory. The Black Challenge did not have to wait long before showing their dominance as Yussif Yahaya broke the deadlock in the 4th minute.

The talismanic Mubarak Mohammed then added a brace to seal the victory for Ghana. Mohammed emerged as the most valuable player of the match, a prize he won for the third time and Ghana’s fifth. Meanwhile, Mubarak now moves to 5 goals from 5 matches, the same as Hamza Mohammed who also won 2 MVPs.

Yussif Yahaya’s opener takes his tally to 6 so far. The Black Challenge has scored 19 goals in 5 matches while conceding only two and keeping 3 clean sheets. The final is on Monday, May 27, 2024.
