Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has claimed the Akufo-Adddo-led New Patriotic Party administration has created over 2 million jobs. He said the government’s efforts in creating jobs are remarkable and incomparable.

Addressing a gathering at the El-Wak stadium in Accra after a health walk, the head of the government’s Economic Management Team, said 2.1 million jobs have been created since the NPP came to office in 2017.

“During the NDC administration, there were no jobs, they created unemployment instead of employment but these days there are jobs everywhere. I have been looking at the data lately and we have created 2.1 million jobs.

According to Dr Bawumia, the majority of the jobs came from the public sector where he said 1.2 million jobs have been created. The private sector, he said, contributed over 900,000 jobs. He argued that the data is available and anyone who doubts it can verify it.

He said, “975, 000 are in the private sector, 1.2 million in the public sector, this is verifiable and identifiable data which is available. We are not done yet because there are more jobs for us to create. But when it comes to job creation, no government since independence has created more jobs than the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Anybody can challenge me and I will provide the data”.

Despite his claim of creating over 2 million jobs, Dr Bawumia who is lacing his boots for the NPP flagbearer primaries said the government is set to add more. He said the government wants to make Ghana a place of choice for many just like Dubai and other places.

“But we want to do more, we want to get to the promised land. We can be a Dubai, we can be a South Korea, we can be a Singapore, it is possible,” he added.
