With barely two weeks to the presidential primary of the NPP to elect a presidential candidate, the delegates seem undecided on who to vote for according to the latest poll results. The two main contenders, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong lead the race per the polls. Still, none of them stands out as the favourite of the delegates and thus not expected to secure 50% plus one to emerge the winner.

According to the polls conducted by Global Info Analytics, though Bawumia is leading the race, he won’t be able to get the required number to win the race on the first try. Kennedy Agyapong, the maverick lawmaker seeking to end Bawumia’s dreams is hotly closing on the Vice President.

Among the general delegates, Dr Bawumia got 45% of delegates favouring him while Kennedy Agyapong had just 18%. A staggering 20% have not yet decided who to vote for while 17% have not revealed their choice. The other two candidates Francis Addai Nimo and Afriyie Akoto polled no scores in the polls.

However, regions that have been identified as swing regions for the primary have confidence in Kennedy Agyapong more than Bawumia. The swing regions which are Greater Accra, Central, Western and North
East regions saw Kennedy Agyapong leading with 39% while Bawumia followed closely with 38%.

The NPP will hold its delegates conference on November 4 to elect a replacement for Akufo-Addo ahead of the 2024 general elections.
