One of the biggest culprits of Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI’s work is former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The former GFA capo and ex-FIFA council member fell victim of Anas’ work when in 2018, Anas released the investigative documentary titled “Number 12: When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm”.

Nyantakyi lost his position as both GFA and WAFU President and stepped down from his position as a FIFA Council member. He was also banned from all football activities for life but later got it reduced to 15 years after the Court of Arbitration for Sports ruled in his favour in 2020.

However, nearly five years down the line, Nyantakyi has something to hold on to his belief that Anas is not as clean as he sells his image to the public. The ace journalist was defeated in a defamation suit against Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong who aired a documentary “Who Watches the Watchman” in response to Anas’ work and to expose the dark side of the lawyer cum journalist.

Justice Eric Baah, a Court of Appeal judge who sat in as a High Court judge ruled dismissed the case against Kennedy Agyapong in a landmark victory against Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Aside from that, the judge described the journalist as practicing “investigative terrorism” and one who blackmails people he does not like. He said, “I hold that the plaintiff is a blackmailer who uses blackmail to extort money from his opponents and people he does not like”.

Kwesi Nyantakyi who was always in court with Kennedy Agyapong in reacting to the court’s ruling said “the High Court’s decision testifies to the truth that Anas Aremeyaw Anas is not honest but as described by the court, he is a blackmailer and an extortionist”.

“The judge also described his job as an investigative terrorist instead of an investigative journalist. He has been totally disgraced. He once portrayed himself as an angel, but today I’m not even sure he is at the devil’s level yet,” he told Oman FM.
