Leader of the Movement for Change Alan Kyeremanten has become the latest high-profile politician to storm the Akwaaba Village to show support for the efforts of Afua Asantewaa Aduonum. The resilient singer is nearing the end of her near-five-day marathon which kicked off on December 24.
Alan Kyeremanten’s visit follows a similar one by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia two days into the marathon. Afua Asantewaa is on a mission to usurp India’s Sunil Waghmare, the current record holder. Thursday is the last day of the event with the singer expected to overtake the Indian as the new record holder by midday.
Afua Asantewaa who started her journey on the midnight of Christmas Eve has persisted in her pursuit to break the record Waghmare held since 2012. The Ghanaian has received massive support from her countrymen with several top creative industry players taking to the venue to offer support.
Thousands have been glued to their phones watching live streams of the event while several others have consistently been posting goodwill messages on social media. Meanwhile, the venue has remained a busy place for many Ghanaians as they throng there to support her break the record. Amidst dancing and chants, the crowd has not left her alone as they keep on cheering her on with placards displaying encouraging messages.
