Valentine was yesterday, February 14 and there was so much buzz and fanfare at several event venues despite it being a week day. Music is one big component of every party or occasion in Ghana and the Valentine Day celebration was no funeral to go dull. So we look at the top 5 songs that Ghanaians celebrated the day with.

Country Side – Sarkodie feat Black Sheriff

Sarkodie’s Country Side featuring Black Sheriff has been topping the charts for weeks. The track which is part of Sarkodie’s Jamz album and was released early this year has remained a fan favourite and hit the sound systems throughout the period leading to Valentine Day including the day itself. Surely, many people might have had the day at the Country Side though it was on a week day.

More of You – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy never fails to impress and he didn’t disappoint when he dropped the More of You song earlier this month. A song themed on love and affection, it is no surprise it has being a top streamed music prior to the Valentine Day and even the day after. Hopefully, those who had their needs met on the day of love will get more of their better halves.

Xtra Cool – Youn John

Nigerian singer Youn John released Xtra Cool in 2022 but the song has what it takes to put anyone in the mood to celebrate and show love especially on days like Valentine Day. Off the “Love Is Not Enough Vol 2” album, the afrobeat love themed song is surely a Valentine banger and correctly so trended on the Valentine week.

Obaa Hemaa – Skyface SDW

Skyface dropped “Obaa Hemaa” last year but what is love if you don’t let love music guide your thoughts on Valentine Day? Featuring O’Kenneth, Jay Bahd, Kwaku DMC, Beeztrap KOTM and Reggie, the song has become the rapper’s most famed song and it still hitting the streams and airwaves daily and into the Valentine week.

Terminator – Asake

Asake has unarguably risen to the top in recent times though little was known of him prior to 2022. But with songs such as “Sungba”, “Joha” and “Omo Ope”, the Nigerian singer has become a favourite for many music lovers. Terminator has been buzzing since its release and stayed trendy in the Valentine week.

Honourable mentions goes to “45” by Black Sheriff, “Soso” by Omah Lay, “Gidigba” by Stonebwoy, “Soweto” by Victony and Tempoe and “For My Hand” by Burna Boy featuring Ed Sheeran.
