Chris Hughton is not good, we’re not happy – Exco members

Two leading Ghanaian football administrators have expressed disgust at the performance of Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton. The GFA Exco members criticized the coach claiming the team needs to improve and it is only a prayer that Ghana qualifies for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Randy Abbey, a member of the Executive Council told Takoradi-based Spice FM that the former Nottingham Forest manager has not done anything good since taking over from Otto Addo. “We are not too happy, we think there has to be a lot of improvement which needs to be made. We also don’t have all the time in the world, so we need to be fast about it,” he claimed.

Another of the Exco members to voice his misgivings towards the former technical advisor to the team is George Amoak who said it is only a prayer that the team makes it to Cote d’Ivoire next year.

“Have you seen Chris Hughton’s performance? ” he questioned while speaking to Angel FM as reported by Pulse. “He has played three matches. He hasn’t been impressive,” he remarked.

Addin, “If you look at the teams, Madagascar. I went to see the game against Angola and all the games I have seen we play under him. I am not really impressed. Let’s pray at least that we will qualify for the 2023 AFCON.”

Chris Hughton took charge of the team in March this year after Otto Addo left his place following a below-par outing in Qatar 2022. The former Ireland defender supervised a 1-0 win over Angola in his first match days after assuming the role. The second match days later ended in a goalless draw against the same opponents before a 1-1 draw in June against Madagascar opened the room for his criticism.
