John Mahama leads Bawumia in NPP vote banks – Poll report

The candidate of the leading opposition party, NDC, John Mahama is leading the incumbent party’s candidate in four major constituencies, Mahamudu Bawumia according to Global Info Analytics.

All four constituencies are in the Greater Accra Region and have been significant backers of the NPP as recent voting results show. However, the poll conducted by Global Info Analytics shows that John Mahama, the NDC candidate is leading Dr Bawumia in all 4 constituencies.

Another significant observation is that voters in the six constituencies; Okaikwei Central, Okaikwei South, Anyaa Sowutuom and Trobu are likely to vote “skirt and blouse”. Whereas the NDC presidential candidate leads his closest contender, the NPP parliamentary candidate hold leads in all though some have reduced margins.

In all the constituencies, NPP won by an average of 62% in the 2020 election but former President Mahama leads with 40.5% while Bawumia trails with 36%. The rest are shared among the remaining candidates while some remain undecided. Others have also decided that they will not vote.

Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force got 1.8% and Alan Kyeremanten, Movement for Change with 1.7%. additionally, 10.4% of voters say they will not vote while 9.4% are undecided.

According to the poll, NPP’s Patrick Yaw Boamah leads in Okaikwei Central with 50.5% while NDC’s Baba Sadiq has 36% and 6.9% of voters do not intend to vote while 7.6% are undecided. The incumbent, Patrick Boamah won the seat in the 2020 election with nearly a 19% margin.
