Great Olympics: Mensah and Osei’s strikes give Oly Dade hope

Isaac Mensah and Michael Osei were among the goals as Accra Great Olympics crawled out of the relegation zone after week 30 matches in the Ghana Premier League.

Ahead of the match, Oly Dade was stuck in 17th position on the table after a poor run of results that included defeats to Bibiani Gold Stars and Aduana Stars, either side of a 1-1 draw with Tamale City and 2-0 success over Kotoko.

Olympics have been flirting with relegation for the majority part of the season and have so far recorded 10 victories and 12 defeats after 30 matches.

However, Isaac Mensah and Michael Osei came to the rescue as they helped the White and Blue snatch maximum points from relegation-bound Kotoku Royals. Isaac Mensah opened the scoring for Great Olympics with just a minute of the first half left to play.

That goal ensured that Great Olympics headed for the break with the advantage. And straight from the break, they picked up from where they left off as Michael Osei doubled Oly Dade’s lead with six minutes to the hour mark.

The win lifted the Nungua-based club to 15th, just a place above the drop zone with 38 points, one more than Nsoatreman who occupy the last relegation spot. Next up for Great Olympics is Karela on Sunday in the week 31 fixtures.

Meanwhile, Kotoku Royals will welcome defending champions Asante Kotoko home for their final meeting in the league.
