Background
Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the embattled former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources was forced to resign after a case she sent to police and subsequently to court backfired on her. She had dragged her former housemaids and their alleged accomplices to the court for stealing US$1 million and millions of Ghana Cedis, €300,000 and several personal belongings worth tens of thousands of Ghana Cedis.
She later submitted her resignation to President Akufo-Addo saying “Whereas I can state emphatically that those figures do not represent correctly what my husband and I reported to the Police, I am very much aware of the import of such stories around someone in my position. I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time.”
