Members of Parliament from the NDC demand an apology from President Akufo-Addo for his “misguided comments” in the Volta Region. The President received heavy trolls and criticism following comments he made while visiting victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage.

According to the President, he was only visiting them because Ghanaians are suffering and he is obliged to help as a leader. He said it was not because of those who voted for him for if it was on those basis he had no business in the Volta Region because they didn’t vote for him.

However, the NDC MPs do not think President Akufo-Addo’s comment was proper. Like the several Ghanaians who have expressed their displeasure, the Minority has called on the president to apologize. The Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson called on the President to be humble and apologize for his misguided comment.

According to the NDC MPs, the comment “…shows the government doesn’t really care that much about the people of Volta Region. On behalf of the people of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress Minority in Parliament wants to apologise to the people of the Volta Region for the statement made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“We consider that statement very unfortunate, and this statement should not come from the father of the land in times like this. It surprises us, and we are really disappointed in the statement coming from H.E. the President. We call on him to also apologise to the people of Volta Region, in particular for what he said,”
