Femi Ogunrombi of Papa Ajasco series is dead

Veteran Nigerian actor Femi Ogunrombi also known as Papa Ajasco has been reported dead. Mr Ogunrombi who was a music instructor and ethnomusicologist shot to fame during the life of the Wale Adenuga Production comic series Papa Ajasco when he stood in for the original Papa Ajasco, Mr Richard Abiodun Ayoyinka.

“I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with #NATIONALTROUPE and one time stand-in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular #waleadenugaprod comic series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is dead,” Dr Husseini Shaibu, a Culture Critic announced on Twitter.

Mr Ogunrombi stood in as Papa Ajasco when the original character Mr Ayoyinka pulled out of the popular sitcom.

The late Mr Ogunrombi who founded and conducted the Ayoro Voices, a choral group was a composer, music instructor, music and film director, actor and producer. He studied Music and Drama at the Obafemi Awolowo University. And his choral group, Ayoro Voices was the cultural image of the university between 1980 and 1983.
