Former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has been found dead under the rubble following the earthquake in Turkey.
Christian Atsu was among the thousands caught under the rubble days after the disaster. While many have been rescued alive, the Ghanaian speedy winger’s body was found under the weight of the rubble 12 days after.
Account to his agent Muzat Uzunmehmet, “Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. Currently, more items are still being taken out. His phone was also found”.
The disaster has already claimed over 45,000 lives across both Turkey and Syria. That is expected to rise as many are yet to be unaccounted for.
Meanwhile, news emerged on Friday that Atsu had cancelled a plane tickets hours before the disaster. He was set to leave the country to spend time with his family.
He had also been said to have requested to leave if he gets a club and the club had agreed to his request.
