Chelsea fans celebrate over Graham Potter’s sacking

Chelsea announced on Sunday night that first-team manager Graham Potter has departed the club. The decision by Todd Boehly and those in charge at Cobham has sent a wave of excitement among the Chelsea faithful. Potter was not a popular figure with the fans and when results started coming in good in March, many feared he may just prolong his stay by that.

However, one match following the completion of the international window and the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss is out. Inasmuch Boehly and co may have loved to have him around, sacking Potter was eminent as the club moves closer to a relegation fight more than towards qualifying for Europe.

Chelsea announced the news via a statement that said, “Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future”.

And when the news hit the public, Chelsea fans worldwide have taken to social media to express their joy. We bring you some of the reactions from the club’s supporters.

A user by the name CFCMamo thinks Potter is the worst manager in Chelsea’s history and he asked if others agree.

For Ghanaian influencer, KalyJay, it is a party and the numbers that he is doing the party with can’t be any bigger, can it?

And Slimfit thinks Potter’s damage is too much and sacking was right on point. He says the manager will not be missed.

Ashu Deori feels sorry that it didn’t work but he thinks Potter came around too early and will need more experience to handle a club like Chelsea.
