Black Sherif wins VGMA Artiste of the Year, three others

Konongo-born Black Sherif also known as Blacko has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year for 2023.

Black Sherif was nominated for the category along with previous winners Sarkodie, Kidi and Joe Mettle as well las Piesie Esther, Camidoh, King Promise and Stonebwoy. But the “Kwaku the Traveller” hitmaker did not shiver as he capped off a remarkable 2022 with the award.

Aside from scooping the topmost award on offer at the event, Black Sherif, known in private life as Mohammed Ismail Sharrif won Most Popular Song of the Year with “Kwaku the Traveller”. He also claimed Best Hip Hop Song with the same song and round it off with Best Music Video with Konongo Zongo.

Also, the “Wasteman” crooner’s work with Sarkodie on “Countryside” claimed the Best Collaboration of the Year.

Piesie Esther who was favourited by many to give Black Sherif stiff competition for the gong won Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song o the Year.
