Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced Friday, June 16 as the day for him to file his nominations to contest for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party. The nomination forms for the flagbearer position were picked for Bawumia by Fred Oware and Sammy Awuku.
Weeks after picking the nomination forms, the Vice President has announced that he is ready to file the nomination forms ahead of the elections later this year. He announced the decision in a post on social media, stating that he will file the nomination forms on Friday.
“Dear Friends, God willing tomorrow, Friday 16 June, I shall file my nomination forms and contest the NPP Presidential Primary. It is possible,” Bawumia announced on Twitter.
The number two gentleman of the country will be up against strong opposition from former ministers including those under the current administration. Dr Kofi Kondadu Apraku has picked forms to contest alongside Francis Addai-Nimo, a former MP for Mampong, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and former General Secretary of the party Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.
Also gunning for the position are Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Trade and Industry Minister Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten and Joe Ghartey, a former Minister for Railways.
