Central African Republic names squad to face Black Stars

Ghana’s opponent in the final leg of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier, the Central African Republic has named its squad for the encounter. Coach Raoul Savoy released a 24-man squad that does not include notable names such as skipper Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Kondogbia who scored the goal against Angola in the last match is out due to injury. The Olympic Marseille midfielder will thus watch from the sidelines as his team battles the Black Stars in Kumasi. Also missing from the squad is goalkeeper Dominique Youfeigane. The FC Lorient star was dismissed in the 70th minute of the penultimate match against Angola.

However, Raoul Savoy will hope to get his side to put in their best effort to upset Ghana and seal qualification to Ivory Coast next year. The Wild Beasts will need a victory to seal qualification or at minimum, a draw and hope that Madagascar upsets Angola in order to grant them passage. They might have a chance against the Black Stars who just need a draw to qualify. The last encounter ended in a 1-1 stalemate and Ghana has also not fared well after being held against bottom-placed Madagascar in their last match.

Below is the full Central African Republic squad

Geoffrey Lembet, Berry Biandao, Saturnin Ngarsouma, Peter Guinari, Stephane Ndobe, Flory Yangao, Freeman Niamathe, Sidney Dambakizi, Severin Tatolna, Marco Yapende, Amos Youga, Gabriel Oualengbe, Brad Pirioua, Guy Bekain, Tresor Toropite, Ghislain Venuste Baboula, Karl Namnganda, Goduine Koyalipou, Marco Majouga, Axel Urie, Juste Koulou, Eleoenai Tompte, Louis Mafouta, Cesar Manzoki.
