Football fans in Ghana have roundly responded to Black Stars captain Andre Ayew’s praise of the Ghana Premier League. The former Swansea City and Wesh Ham United attacker made the comments praising the league’s progress in a video to promote support for the league. In the video, Andre Ayew said he had always been a fan of the league while adding that the league has progressed.

“I think Ghana football is progressing. When we’re able to watch the games on the phone…….It is important and I feel that being able to see that I am personally able to follow what happens in our football and that is great,” Ayew said in the video.

However, fans of the Ghanaian league did not think the Black Stars attacker was genuine but only doing what he was asked to do. Some even asked that he if genuinely thinks the league is good, then he should come and sign for one of the clubs in the country now that he is a free agent.

One of the fans who commented on the tweet said, “Dede Ayew, I am one of your biggest fans. But next time be realistic and say as it is. In this interview, you are only being political. There is nothing good about the GPL as at the moment. Things have dwindled.”

This fan wants Andre Ayew to prove that the league has improved by signing for a club in Ghana. “As he said it has improved Saa dea ,S3 he bi Free Agent so he should come and play for one of the clubs in Ghana and that will show us how good the league has become.”

DicksonBlay thinks Andre Ayew was forced to say what he [Ayew] would never have said because Andre is aware it is not true.
