She said the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and herself together with the Ministry have put in efforts to digitalize the system only for it to be manipulated by the staff for financial gains.

Madam Ayorkor Botchhwey announced that “There is an investigation going on and some names have been mentioned. And there are people from outside, a cartel who are working with people from inside.”

Consequently, she dismissed all staff of the office who have worked there for over one year. “Anyone who has been here for more than a year, from Monday, don’t come back, please, because you have been changed. We want to bring some sanity.”

Ayorkor Botchwey added that politicians have always been the ones to take the blame meanwhile it is civil servants who refuse to do right what they are paid to do. “Every time politicians are corrupt, meanwhile, it is some public civil servants who will do things that shouldn’t be done and then they put it on politicians. We come, we do the right thing. I am trying to bring sanity into the passport system but no.”
