Member of Parliament for Builsa South Clement Apaak has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction following the approval of the ministerial nominees by Parliament.

In a tweet after the house approved all Akufo-Addo’s nominees, the Builsa South MP berated the decision while attributing it to “greed and treachery”.

“Approval of Ministers – Most devastating and disappointing outcome. Greed and treachery is our bane. Yet again we have failed to live up to expectations. The traitors will sure be exposed by their collaborators in no time,” he tweeted.

After the vote by the 272 members who were present, Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin announced the results.

“Honourable Members, at long last collation of votes has ended. The register of 275 eligible voters, 3 voters were absent so 272 did exercise their franchise. The results of the voting are as follows; Honorable KT Hammond 154 Yes, 116 Nos, rejected 1, Bryan Acheampong, 167 Yes, 98 Nos, rejected 4, abstention 3. Stephen Asamoah Boateng 147 Yes, 122 Nos, 3 abstentions. Mohammed Amin Adams 152 Yes, 117 Nos, rejected 1, abstentions 2. Osei Bonsu Amoah 149 Yes, 120 Nos, abstentions 3, Stephen Amoah 146 yes, 123 nos, 3 absentions.”

MP for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond was roundedly criticised by Ghanaian youth after his comments disregarding the youth of the country emerged as one of the nominees with the most votes. He polled 154 Yes votes against 116 No votes.

The approval of the ministers brought to an end the back and forth between the Minority and Majority. Prior to the vote, the Minority had threatened to reject the nominees. The NDC had accordingly informed the Minority to reject the nominees as calls for the President to downsize his government continues to ring out loud.
