As part of efforts to address concerns from subscribers as to the number of SIM cards their Ghana Card has been linked to, the NCA has revealed a shortcode is on its way for that purpose. This was revealed in a post by the authority on Facebook.

According to the post, “The NCA and the Telcos have already been actively working on a short code for Individual Subscribers to verify the number of SIMs associated with a Ghana card. You just type the shortcode on your phone, and after a verification process using your Ghana card pin, the number of SIMs associated with the Ghana card will be displayed”.

Revealing further, the authority said the shortcode is not ready yet but subscribers should expect it by the end of the month, April. From then, subscribers can verify using the shortcode instead of going to the offices of the Telcos.

“There will be no need for Subscribers to physically go to the Telco to verify same when the shortcode is operational, by the end of April 2023, after the testing has been completed and approved”.

Ghanaians are mandated to link their SIM cards to their Ghana cards by undertaking the re-registration exercise. Those who have since failed to complete the process have had their SIM cards blocked. They cannot use any of the services provided by the Telcos until they register their SIMs with the Ghana card.
