Nana Ama McBrown reveals why she left Despite Media

Celebrated actor and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has detailed the reason behind her high profile switch from the United Television (UTV) of the Despite Media group to Onua TV of Media General.

The flamboyant actress who joined the Media General family this month following her exit from UTV gave the explanation in response to some comments from her former colleagues at Despite Media who said she was ungrateful.

However, Nana Ama McBrown thinks it is not about being ungrateful but she was not contacted during the period she was away from the media powerhouse.

“I had this call somewhere about early February, I ignored it. I was thinking about it. I was praying about it…I wanted to be sure even though at that moment I didn’t have much to do apart from my ambassadorial deals,” she explained adding “I didn’t want to go into this but I have to say this because of how the conversation is going”.

Going further, she revealed that she informed her previous employers that she wanted some time off from December and that she also asked that they should brainstorm on something new. However, no one contacted her regarding her request that they should think of something new and since she had no deal with them she decided to take the offer from Media General.

“I told my previous employers that I wanted to hold on from December. Let’s think of something new to do, that’s what I said to them. I was expecting them to call and say come let’s think about what is new. However, I don’t have a contract with anybody so if nobody is minding me, I have the right to move on…I am not here to explain much. This is me, I pray about every step I make, I don’t just move,” she explained.

“Whoever is saying what about me, I leave that person to God because I know myself and I know I have worked my way through here,” she noted.

Incensed by people who thought she has been granted favours do to her appearance, she added that “I didn’t come here just for the sake of my beauty or maybe my smile. I have worked to make my smile impactful. I am here because I have worked, oh Jonnie I have worked”.

Commenting on her grand welcome to the Media General family, the renowned screen queen stated that she was taken by surprise and that how she was welcomed amazed her and made her feel at home immediately.

To have Captain Smart and the rest to wear my t-shirt with Berla around going live, yourself, Jonnie, the drums. I wasn’t expecting that, it was beautiful. Right there, I felt home,” she concluded.
