Lowly Black Galaxies defeated 1-2 by Madagascar

Ghana’s Black Galaxies have taken to an erratic start in the ongoing Championship of African Nations, CHAN 2022 in Algeria. The Black Galaxies trembled to a 2-1 defeat against their counterparts from Madagascar and now have an uphill of task to qualify.

Coach Annor Walker failed to inspire his charges past Romuald Félix Rôrô Rakotondrabe’s Barea after conceding in the 10th minute through Solomampionona Razafindranaivo who plays for CFF Andoharanofotsy in the Malagasy Pro League.

Tokinantenaina Tsiry Olivier Randriatsiferana added to Madagascar’s lead a minute after the hour mark before Augustine Agyapong pulled one back for the Black Galaxies six minutes later. That, however, only ended up being a consolation as the Ghanaians could not pull level to salvage a point.

Annor Walker started with a front three of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Gladson Awako and Abdul Razak Yusif playing ahead of Dominic Nsobila of Accra Lions, Great Olympic’s Razak Kasim and David Abagna of RTU. Dennis Nkrumah-Korsah and Augustine Randolf flanked Konadu Yiadom and Solomon Adomako in a four-man defensive setup with Danlad Ibrahim manning the goalpost.

However, it was one of the substitutes, Augustine Agyapong who gave Ghana hope of a comeback with the 67th-minute wonder goal. Kwame Otu and Sylvester Simba were the other substitutes.

Ghana’s next match is against Sudan on Thursday at 7 pm while Madagascar who currently leads the group will play Morocco whose first match against Sudan was postponed on the same day at 4 pm.
