Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, LPG, Percival Kofi Akpaloo has made strong statements about the things he would do when elected president of the Republic in the upcoming general elections. Kofi Akpaloo who is leading the party into the elections as its presidential candidate said he will merge Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools if given the chance.
“We will merge the JHS and the SHS together to become one school such that we turn them into day schools. We don’t need boarding schools today to promote national cohesion because we have different tribes living in other regions,” Kofi Akpaloo announced.
Apart from wanting to unify the educational system in Ghana for ease of management, he said he will offer unemployment benefits to all persons aged 18 and above who are unemployed. Mr Akpaloo said the youth of the county have been neglected for far too long and he wants to change that to give them a chance to prosper.
“We have neglected our young people and instead of bringing them together, understanding their vision, and supporting their vision, we have neglected them. The LPG will do something different, and we are going to make sure that we pay you unemployment benefits, and support you with income to sustain the youth. We need to create an environment so that the young people in Ghana can make it and prosper,” he told Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Wednesday.
According to him, children under 18 years old will get child benefits while those above 18 would receive unemployment benefits.
“Every child below the age of eighteen will receive child benefit and then those above eighteen years will receive unemployment benefit.”
