Ghanaian singer Francisca Gawugah, known by her stage name Sista Afia has accused some unknown faces of being behind her flopped concert in Tamale.
Sista Afia took her Queen Solomon concert to the Northern Region after holding successful ones in Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi. But the story of success in the other regions would not follow her there as she witnessed a flopped concert.
Speaking to 3Music months after the event, she accused people of sabotaging her because she didn’t have either of the top ranking artists in the Northern Region billed for the night.
“The whole show was sabotaged because I didn’t have Fancy or one other artiste on the bill. So they kept removing the plugs. When I stepped on stage, after 2 seconds, they took the plug, and all the lights went back off. They kept doing it even before I went on stage,” she explained.
However, she explained that it was not that she did not try to get either of those top names billed for the event. She did, just that nothing worked out.
“We exerted every effort. We met the Chiefs and attended the prom, after all. When it comes to Tamale, we followed all the proper procedures,” she narrated her experience.
The “Slay Queen” singer was slayed in Tamale after efforts to get Maccasio and Gadam Fancy failed. She said the latter stopped responding to her messages despite she agreeing to pay the money he demanded.
“We spoke with Fancy. I got in touch with them both. Later, after some haggling, he [Fancy] handed me a price that I had to pay. He stopped responding to my text as I was about to pay,” she revealed.
With an intention to capture the northern part of the country with her music, Sista Afia billed top acts including Medikal and Kumawood star cum music Lil Win. Other artists who performed at the event were Kwame Yogot, Mr Drew and Sefa as well as Tamale-based duo of Fad Lan and Wiz Child.
