Actor cum politician John Setor Dumelo has emphatically stated that his friend and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Movie Awards, Fred Nuamah has lied. This follows Fred Nuamah’s claim that he is surprised John Dumelo is contesting the Ayawaso Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries after earlier saying he won’t contest.

Fred Nuamah released flyers stating his intention to contest for the NDC parliamentary ticket in the constituency to replace John Dumelo in the 2024 election. This was done on the same day the actor attended John Dumelo’s birthday party on February 3.

Mr Dumelo later also released his flyers announcing his intention to contest to represent the NDC in the constituency as he seeks to lay claim to the seat he lost in 2020 to Lydia Seyram.

Speaking on the United Showbiz on UTV on Saturday, March 11, 2023 with MzGee, the agriculture entrepreneur said he never gave his blessings to Fred Nuamah as claimed by the Ghana Movie Awards CEO.

According to John Dumelo, Fred Nuamah “….is someone who called me two months ago and told me he has heard I am coming back so he will support my bid and now he is saying I gave my blessing. When did I give my blessings to him?”

The ‘Men in Love’ star disclosed that Fred Nuamah after releasing his flyers to state his intentions to contest at the primaries, sent him a long message claiming he[Dumelo] never told him that he wants to go for a re-election.

Expressing his shock, Mr Dumelo added, “On my birthday, he came for my surprise party on 3rd February. That same night he released his flyer…after that he sent me a long text message and I told him I never told him I am not coming back”.

Mr Dumelo who seemed so optimistic about his chances at the primaries promised a defeat for Fred Nuamah while adding that he has been betrayed by the man who was his best man at his wedding a couple of years ago.

“That is a stab in the back and he will lose the primaries, I know that for a fact. If you speak to people and the delegates they say they want John back,” he told MzGee.

John Dumelo was reacting to the Fred Nuamah’s interview with the Graphic Showbiz where he said “it is late to step down. My brother informed me and a lot of people that he was not going to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency again. He gave me his blessings when I made up my mind to contest”.

According to Fred Nuamah in that interview, Mr Dumelo had turned his attention to the Guan/Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lipke and Lolobi (SALL).

“Truthfully, I am surprised about his u-turn because it was evident and crystal clear that he was not going for the Ayawaso seat anymore and rather invested in Guan/SALL,” Mr Nuamah stated.
