Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting CP scored the only goal as Ghana beat Algeria 1-0 in Kumasi to secure qualification to 2023 U-23 African Cup of Nations.
Following a 1-1 draw in Algiers last week, the mercurial winger added another goal to his tally as he makes it two goals from two matches for the Black Meteors.
Ghana joined the qualifiers in the second round and dispatched Mozambique by 4-1 aggregate to set a date with Algeria. A 1-1 draw in Algiers last week gave the Black Meteors the chance to end the contest at home.
The win means Ghana have qualified for the tournament to be hosted in Morocco this year. Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s charges will hope to maintain the momentum from the qualifiers when they get into the tournament proper later this year.
