FA Cup: King Faisal and Aduana Stars headline quarter-finals

Estimated read time 2 min read

Premier League rivals Aduana Stars and King Faisal Babes will headline the last eight fixtures of the 2022/23 Ghana FA Cup. The two sides are set to go off against each other for a place in the semi-finals.

The biggest tie in the Southern zone will be the Dreams FC versus Legon Cities fixture. Division One clubs, Ebusua Dwarfs and Skyy FC will lock horns to decide the second team from that zone.

Real Tamale United will square up against old foes, Nsoatreman FC in another all-Premier League clash in the Northern Zone.

Aduana Stars defeated Kotoko to reach the last eight whereas King Faisals also overcame Tamale-based Steadfast FC by a lone goal to advance. Real Tamale United scaled through FC Samartex by 2-1 to book their spot in the quarters while Nsoatreman FC overcame Debibi United FC via penalties after playing a 2-2 stalemate.

Legon Cities took care of Volta Rangers via penalties after a 1-1 draw while Dreams FC showed levels to send out former Premier League campaigners Liberty Professionals with three unanswered goals.

Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs took care of struggling Premier League side Kotoku Royals to reach the last eight via a 1-0 success. Skyy FC humbled Heart of Lions 1-2 to book their place in the quarter-finals.

There will likely be a new winner of the trophy this year with only Dwarfs the only remaining side to ever win the trophy. Real Tamale United could make this their glory moment after missing out twice in 1986 and 2001. Ebusua Dwarfs will be gunning for their second honours in the competition while King Faisal will hope to get lucky on their second attempt at glory.
