Ernest Nuamah shortlisted for African Young Player of the Year

Ghana and Olympique Lyonnais teenager Ernest Nuamah has been nominated for the African Young Player of the Year by CAF. The young Ghanaian is being rewarded for his consistent performance over the period under review.

Ernest Nuamah who is on loan with the French side from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek had a stellar season with Danish side Nordsjaelland where he scored 12 goals and provided 4 assists in 30 outings. He also started the season with them strongly by notching in five goals in four matches before switching clubs in the summer.

The youngster who turned 20 today is facing stiff competition from the Senegalese quadruple of Pape Demba Diop (Zulte Waregem),  Lamine Camara and Pape Amadou Diallo both of Metz and Amara Diouf of Generation Foot. They will be joined by Nigeria and KAA Gent sensation, Gift Orban, the Burkina Faso duo of Dango Ouattara (Bournemouth) and Souleymane Alio (New Stars). Completing the list are Moroccans Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (Real Betis) and Bilal El Khannous of Gent.

The awards gala will be held on December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco. Sports personalities from both men and women categories will be honoured. Coaches, national teams and clubs will also receive honours at the event.
