Rising South African rapper Costa Titch has been reported dead after he collapsed twice on stage while performing at a music festival in Johannesburg. The musician was performing during the Ultra South African music festival on Saturday.
The 27-year-old was performing to a crowd of fans at the event when he collapsed on the stage for the first time. He quickly got back up on his feet with assistance from some of the people who were around him. He continued with his performance amidst cheers from fans but collapsed for the second time shortly after the first.
He did not get up again as people rush close to support him. He was later reported dead. The rising hip-hop star was performing at the Ultra South Africa music festival in Johannesburg when the incident occurred.
Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media including Twitter with many users of the social media platform reacting to the news.
Formerly known as Costa Tsobanoglou, the rapper is from the city of Mbombela, located near the Eswatini and Mozambique borders. The ‘Big Flexa’ hitmaker recently did a remix of his hit ampiano song, Big Flexa with Senegalese-American singer Akon and Alfa Kat. He has also got some other popular songs including ‘Just Do It’, ‘Superstar’, ‘Nkalankatha’ and ‘Maitama’.
The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed.
Costa Titch’s death comes on the back of the death of AKA who was shot dead last month by unknown assailants. The death of the two is a big loss to the South African music industry and the whole of Africa. His contribution to the ampiano genre will be greatly missed as well.
