Black Stars head coach Christoper Hughton has stated that he is already familiar with the Black Stars players. He said his role with the team as a technical advisor has exposed him to the players and he is no stranger to them.
He told the media during his unveiling in Kumasi that his relationship with the players and all the people around the team is solid.
“Being a technical advisor allowed me to get a good feel of the squad and also get to build relationships with the players and people around the national team,” he said.
Speaking about the opportunity to coach the team, the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager said he is super proud of the prospects and he is looking forward to it.
“To represent Ghana and the Black Stars as the head coach is something I am incredibly proud of,” he said.
Chris Hughton was named Black Stars manager last month following the exit of Otto Addo after the World Cup. He will be in charge of the team until 2024 with his immediate challenge being to qualify the team for the next African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
He will take charge of the team for the first on Thursday in Kumasi against Angola in a Group E top-of-the-table clash. He has named a 25-man squad for the doubleheader against the Sable Antelopes.
