The female under-20 national team of Ghana the Black Princesses made a show at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday during a friendly with their Nigerien counterparts.
Ghana hosted their West African neighbours as part of the preparation for the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s tournament in Kumasi next week.
And the young Ghanaian ladies took matters beyond preparation and put 11 goals past their opponents. Of the 11 goals, eight of them came in the first half of the game with Faiza Seidu completing a hat-trick in under 45 minutes.
Goals from Maafia Nyame in the 4th and 17th minutes, as well as a brace from Stell Nyamekye in the 14 and 24th minutes, gave the Nigeriens a tough mountain to climb. In between those goals was Faiza Seidu’s first goal in the 12th minute with her brace secured in the 25th minute. The forward completed her hat-trick in the 45th minute. Hellen Alormenu also registered her name with a goal in the 36th minute to complete the first-half rampage.
From the break, Stella Nyamekye completed her treble too and goals from Tracy Twum in the 74th minute, and Mary Amponsah in 86 minutes marked a brutal outing for the Nigeriens.
Ghana is in Group A with Benin and Ivory Coast while Niger is in Group B with Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Togo. The tournament kicks off on May 20, 2023, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with Ghana taking on Benin at 3 PM GMT.
