Black Meteors Coach Ibrahim Tanko will make do with Black Stars youngsters Kamaldeen Sulemana and Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer after revealing the duo won’t join the team for the tournament in Morocco. The two were expected to join Ernest Nuamah who recently debuted for the Black Stars in the U-23 team that will compete in Morocco for honours and qualification to the Olympics.
However, the coach has revealed that the 21-year Southampton winger Kamaldeen and his Black Stars teammate and Hamburger SV striker Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer will not be available in Morocco. Ernest Nuamah, who played part in the qualifiers would join the team for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco which serves as the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Ibrahim Tanko as reported by 3news said “…Ernest Nuamah is going to join us. The rest will not be able to join so we only have to concentrate on those who are here. We already know Ernest and we’ve played with him during the qualifiers so know he is coming to add some quality to the team.”
He said, “The others were not with us during the qualifiers but…they had qualities that could help the team since they are not here we will concentrate on those we played the qualifiers with. We are 100 per cent sure that the quality is enough. Let’s hope that we will have all players fit for the tournament.”
Ghana is placed in Group A with Congo, Guinea and host Morocco. The Meteors will begin their campaign on Sunday with a game against Congo. They will then play against the host on Tuesday before finishing off against Guinea on Friday.
After the tournament, the top three teams will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Egypt is the defending champions of the AFCON and is also a one-time winner of the tournament.
