Ghana’s Black Galaxies have advanced to the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2022 African Nations Championship in Algeria as Group C runners up following the 0-3 humbling of Sudan by Madagascar.
The Barea made light work of their North African counterparts in 33 first-half minutes to through goals from Tokinantenaina Tsiry Olivier Randriatsiferana, Solomampionona Razafindranaivo and Lalaina Cliver Rafanomezantsoa to dash Sudan’s hopes of progress.
Ghana had begun the tournament with a narrow 2-1 defeat to group winners Madagascar but made amends to come from a goal down to beat Sudan in the second group game to amass six point. CAF had awarded each of the three teams in the group three points and three goals after Morocco withdrew from the tournament due to tension between the two host country and Morocco.
Coach Annor Walker’s men will face Group E’s winner Saturday with either Cameroon who currently lead the group or Niger the likely opponent.
Meanwhile, Madagascar for their heroics will play Mozambique who finished second behind Algeria in Group A also on Saturday.
