Former Ghana striker and Black Stars record goal-scorer Asamoah Gyan has explained the rationale behind his decision to join Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team. The legendary striker was named as part of the team that will draft the manifesto for Dr Bawumia.
According to the former Al Ain hitman, the experiences he gained through the many years of active participation in sports need to be used for the good of the people. He said he has had failures, and successes and all have come together to teach him what he can use to inspire the next generation.
“When I look back at my career, my highs, my low, my failures, and my success, I think I have enough experience and the techniques to contribute in sports.
“I always ask myself, how do we create change if we don’t want to change? How do spectate without being on the bench and how do we score without being on the field? How do we pass on the baton to the next generation if we don’t share our experience, how do we achieve without a clear path ahead?” he asked, adding, “I believe that with a collective experiences, we can orient the next generation to do better than what we did. We can give hope where hope is lost and we can inspire when all hope seems lost”.
According to Asamoah Gyan, he knows and will ever know is sports. He then called on everyone to join hands and create a path for the future of sports.
“All I know and I will ever know, all I love, and will ever love is SPORTS. Let’s join hands and sharpen the path and the future of SPORTS.”
The former Legon Cities forward will chair the Youth and Sports sub-committee with a mandate to generate and propose policy ideas for youth and sports development.
