The Presidential Candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor has passed on according to news report citing a close family source. According to a Citinewsroom.com report, a close family source confirmed the politician’s death to Citi FM.
Akua Donkor per the report passed away on October 28 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. She was in the running to contest the 2024 Presidential elections as her party’s candidate. Madam Akua Donkor during the balloting pick number 3 for the election as she aimed to become Ghana’s first female President.
Her death would be a shock to not just her party members but to Ghanaians who believed her participation was a testament to Ghana’s deepening democracy. As a person who has very little formal education, she was not intimidated out of the race but welcomed by her competitors and voters alike.
In the 2020 election where she successfully contested after two previous failed attempts, Akua Donkor placed 11th with a total of 5,574 votes representing 0.04 per cent.
