The Volta Region has once again stamped its name in Ghana’s political history—but this time, not for conflict or controversy. In a refreshing and unifying turn of events, all 18 Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominated for the region have been confirmed without a single hitch, drawing applause from across the country.
In a statement issued on April 13, 2025, the Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Acting Regional Secretary Bright Kwashie Ege, celebrated what it described as a “remarkable milestone” and extended warm congratulations to the newly confirmed MMDCEs on their assumption of office.
Speaking on behalf of the Regional Chairman, Comrade Mawutor Agbavitor and the rank and file of the party, Hon. Ege emphasized that the successful confirmations were not achieved in a vacuum. “This was a collective victory,” he said, crediting the seamless process to the tireless efforts of the Volta Regional Minister, Regional and Constituency Executives, Members of Parliament, Honourable Assembly Members, Chiefs, Queen Mothers and other key stakeholders.
“This is not just a win for the party—it’s a moment of pride for the entire region,” he declared.
According to Mr. Ege, the peaceful and unanimous endorsement of most of the presidential nominees signals a new chapter in local governance—one that is grounded in collaboration, maturity and a shared vision for development. “We have proven that when duty calls, Volta rises,” he stated.
“As Municipal and District Chief Executives, you are the political and administrative heartbeat of your districts. Your leadership must reflect the aspirations of the people and the manifesto commitments of our great party,” he said. “We expect nothing less than excellence, transparency and prudent resource management,” he warned.
He underscored the importance of delivering tangible development and ensuring that government presence is felt at the grassroots level. The Chief Executives, Ege noted, must become champions of performance, symbols of accountability and bridges between government and the governed.
Ending on a high note, the Volta NDC reiterated its commitment to supporting any initiative that brings growth, peace and stability to the region—regardless of political color.
