Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has said Thomas Partey has a different role at his club from the Black Stars. He was reacting to suggestions that player does not always look committed to the national team as compared to his club.

According to the former Tottenham Hotspur coach, Thomas Partey’s role is nonetheless important even if he does not stand out in a game.

“Partey’s roles for both club and country are different from each other but key. His role in the team is as a continuity player. He is not the type of player to expect to dribble past multiple players. His role is important to what the team does even if he doesn’t always stand out.”

Commenting on the type of players he will use in the team, Chris Hughton said, he will use a blend of both the old players and new ones to give a balance.

“Remember we went to the World Cup campaign with the youngest squad. My plan is to bring in young players and add experienced players. It’s always a mix,” he revealed.

He added that he is also looking at developing the team so his selections will be made with that in mind. “I also have an eye on development for the team,” he said.

Chris Hughton added that he is proud of the opportunity and will offer his best to the team including building good relationships to ensure team unity.

“It is something I will give everything to make the team as successful as possible. I will give everything to make sure the communication and relationship I have with this association and the supporters,” Chris Hughton.

Also, he said support for the team is very necessary and he expects great support from all especially the supporters, beginning from the Angola match.

“Our game is about support – from the association, but mostly, the support from the huge array of fans we have and that starts with a very difficult game at Kumasi on Thursday,” he stated.
