Mark Zuckerberg welcomes third child with Priscilla Chan

Chief Executive Officer of social media giant Meta, Mark Zuckerberg has welcomed a new person into his home this week. He and his wife Priscilla Chan welcomed their third child this week and Mark could not hide the joy.

Taking to social media, the tech mogul shared the news while calling it a “blessing”. He shared the piece of good news on his Instagram handle as he posted a picture of himself with the cute little baby.

“Welcome to the world, Aurelia Chan Zuckerberg! You’re such a little blessing,” Mark captioned the picture.

Aurelia Chan is the third of three children Mark has with his wife Priscilla Chan. This makes them the parents of three daughters as Aurelia joins Maxima and August as offsprings of the tech entrepreneur.

Mark and Chan welcomed their first child in 2015 after several attempts and three miscarriages. Mark said at the time about the coming of Maxima. “Priscilla and I are starting to get ready for our daughter’s arrival,” he wrote on Facebook at the time.

Then he added, “We’ve also been thinking about how we’re going to take time off during the first months of her life. This is a very personal decision, and I’ve decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives”.

Later that year in December, the couple announced the arrival of their new family member. Mark posted, “Priscilla and I are so happy to welcome our daughter Max into the world!”

The couple in an open letter to their daughter, Maxima shared by Mark on Facebook spoke of their joy of her coming and the plans for the future.

“Your mother and I don’t yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future. Your new life is full of promise, and we hope you will be happy and healthy so you can explore it fully. You’ve already given us a reason to reflect on the world we hope you live in,” the letter began.

“Like all parents, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today,” the letter stated in parts.

“While headlines often focus on what’s wrong, in many ways the world is getting better,” adding, “We will do our part to make this happen, not only because we love you, but also because we have a moral responsibility to all children in the next generation”.

After Maxima, the couple waited two years before announcing they were increasing their family size. Mark admitted that they were not sure they would conceive after Max. It was then all joy when they learnt Priscilla was pregnant and Mark hoped it was a girl.

“When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy.” And “My next hope was that it would be a girl,” Mark said as quoted by the People.

Coincidentally, August as the baby would be called was welcome in August 2017. And Mark took to Facebook to share their joy. “Your mom and I are so excited to see who you will become. August, we love you so much and we’re so excited to go on this adventure with you. We wish you a life of joy, love and the same hope you give us.”

Nearly six years after August, Aurelia Chan joined the family and we look forward to what is next for the Zuckerbergs.
