GACL apologizes for power outages at Kotoka International Airport

The Ghana Airports Company Limited, GACL, has apologized to its patrons following power outages that rocked the country’s largest and busiest airport on March 1. Kotoka International Airport experienced intermittent power outages on Friday. The incident though a minor one raised eyebrows as to the cause.

However, the management of the facility has explained the cause of the rare occurrence while apologizing to all who were affected. According to GACL, the incident happened when the generator sets that are installed as backup in case of power outages failed to kick-start on time.

“Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) wishes to confirm that Kotoka International Airport experienced intermittent power outages on Friday, 1st March 2024.

“Our Gentsets, which normally kick-starts within 3-5 seconds of an outage, took about 1 minute 30 seconds to kick in,” parts of the statement read.

As a result, “Management of GACL apologises for the inconvenience caused”.

Kotoka International Airport, situated in the national capital, Accra is the busiest airport in the country serving at least 2 million international passengers a year.
