Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has boldly stated that he is the only reliable option in Election 2024, claiming he alone can deliver transformation. The vice President who is going shoulder to shoulder with former president John Dramani Mahama in the highly anticipated election said he is confident that he is the better option.
Dr Bawumia made the comment during an address to party supporters in the Northern Region. According to him, while his main contender could not provide chalk to schools as President, he as Vice President is delivering laptops to schools.
“This election is about who can deliver the transformation Ghana needs, and I am confident that I am the better choice for the future of our country.
“In his time, there was no chalk in schools. We are buying tablets for school children. Every child will get one. No one will be left out. We are even buying laptops for teachers. We are buying it for teachers from Kindergarten to SHS,” he bragged.
Meanwhile, in an earlier interaction with civil society organizations, the Vice President assured that he is committed to leading a transparent and inclusive government.
“I want to build a country of inclusiveness with good governance and transparency that all of you care about. When we came into office, I started focusing on building the systems that will ensure transparency.”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia explained that his obsession with building systems is based on the fact that he wants greater transparency in governance. He said that was the main reason he as Vice President was focused on establishing digital systems to promote transparency.
This is why when I had the opportunity as Vice President, I focused on getting these systems in place as an anchor of our digitalization drive which would eventually impact our economic transformation.”
Election 2024 is a decisive one for Ghana as the country weighs options between the former President, John Mahama and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. While there are other emerging forces in Alan Kyeremanten and Nana Kwame Bediako, the trend is expected to continue in favour of the NDC-NPP swing. A win for Bawumia would be the first time a party keeps power beyond 8 years in the fourth republic. A defeat for John Mahama would be his third in Ghana’s presidential election while a comeback would be reminiscent of the outcome of the 2024 US elections where they favoured former President Donald Trump.
