Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr Clement Apaak has revealed details in an attempt to counter claims by Koku Anyidoho that he was sacked by Mahama less than 48 hours after Prof. Mills died.

The former NDC Deputy Secretary General during an interview on Atinka TV said he was kicked out of the presidency by John Mahama less than 48 hours after his boss died. Koku Anyidoho was the Head of Communication at the Presidency under President John Atta Mills. He lost that position when John Mahama took over as president following the demise of President Mills.

According to Anyidoho, when Prof. Mills died on the 24th of July, two days later, someone called him in the morning to find out how he was doing. He said he suspected the call was not genuine. That he said was confirmed when about five minutes after that call another call came in and that second caller broke the news to him.

He said, the second caller told him that there was a meeting on the 25th of July, a day after Mills’ death and during that meeting, Mahama had said he was not ready to work with Anyidoho. Mr Anyidoho added that he was asked to look for a state institution where he could be made a CEO or Deputy.

However, Dr Apaak decided to reveal the part that Anyidoho had seemly left out. The Builsa South MP said Anyidoho continued his role as a presidential staffer at the Presidency and was even given the chance to be an ambassador but he turned it down.

“Also indicate that JM offered you an ambassadorial position and you turned it down. He allowed you to continue as a Presidential Staffer assigned to National Security. You served in this capacity till 7/1/2017 and like the rest of us, took ex-gratia,” Apaak stated in a tweet.
