Ghanaian dance duo Abigail and Afronita have made it to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent after leaving judges and audience mesmerized at the Eventim Apollo.
Abigail, 7 and Afronita, 20, made sure they left no one seated when they took the stage to perform. After completing their performance, the four judges; Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli had their work cut short by the response from the audience.
Entering the famous Azonto song from Ghanaian UK-based hip-hop act Fuse ODG, Abigail and Afronita electrified the arena ensuring wild cheers throughout their performance. They deservedly earned a standing ovation from all four judges and a section of the audience who cheered and waved the Ghanaian flag.
Judge Simon Cowell admitted that he thought he had met this year’s winner from the previous day’s performance but the act from Abigail and Afronita has changed that. He said, “I think what is happening behind me [loud cheers] is more important than what I say.”
“When you’ve got it, you’ve got it. I thought last night, ‘Yeah I’ve got a feeling I know who’s going to win the show this year,’….I’ve just changed my mind,” Simon added.
Alesha said: “Sometimes there aren’t enough words to articulate how an act makes you feel because the audience says it for us.”
When asked how they feel, Afronita responded, “I feel blessed. I feel so blessed to be here and to see the audience on their feet; the judges happy, it’s crazy. And I know she[Abigail] feels the same way.”
The BGT final is slated for June 2 and Abigail and Afronita will hope to make themselves and the large support base proud by delivering a winning performance.
Till then best wishes to the the Ghanaian duo.
